INTERNAL INDICATOR 8
Our main priority relating to energy efficiency is to reduce electricity losses incurred in the distribution process.
ENEA Operator implements the assumptions of the initiative entitled Implementation of comprehensive actions contributing to the reduction of balance difference, which forms part of the Strategy of the ENEA Group’s Distribution Area and implemented the Balance difference reduction program at ENEA Operator Sp. z o.o.
At the level of the whole organization, the ENEA Group Energy Efficiency Policy has been implemented. The directions of activities for the implementation of its provisions include:
- informing the customers about the principles of rational consumption of energy,
- developing and implementing comprehensive offers for individual and business customers,
- developing related services and products beyond the current scope of activities, and creating new customer needs,
- implementing projects to reduce electricity and heat losses, improving energy consumption and improving the energy and environmental characteristics of processed energy carriers.
Since 2019, the ENEA Group has had in place the energy efficiency team, which is tasked with coordinating cooperation between individual companies in this respect. The team, among other things:
- provides support in analyzing the feasibility and desirability of new energy efficiency measures or initiatives,
- participates in regular updates to the ENEA Group Energy Efficiency Policy with appendices,
- contributes to the development and periodic updating of studies resulting from the obligation to provide information laid down in that Policy,
- participates in issuing opinions on proposed legislative documents,
- participate in the development of a bonus system for proposed pro-efficiency measures.
At the beginning of 2022, the Group launched a new cogeneration source in Piła, worth nearly PLN 50 million, based on three gas engines and solar collectors the operation of which resulted in a reduction of coal consumption in the heating system. The new source increased the share of heat produced in high-efficiency cogeneration from 32% to 51.4%. As a result, the city of Piła’s heating system became truly energy efficient. The plant’s capacity will be sufficient to fully satisfy hot water needs of Piła residents in the summer, eliminating the need to operate traditional coal-fired heating sources.
