Construction of new networks, connections and district heating hubs, which enabled more customers to be connected to the municipal heating system in Bialystok. Additional modernization measures were undertaken, which, among other things, reduced the probability of breakdowns, reduced heat losses and increased the certainty of meeting quality standards for the supplied factor. These investments were made using the company’s proprietary funds, and EU funds.
Significance for regional and local development

203-1
Increasing connection capacity by us makes it possible for regions and local communities to develop, among others, facilitating the acquisition of investors by local governments. Expansion and modernization of electrical grids makes it possible to improve the spatial development of cities, towns, townships and counties, allows for connecting RES installations and develop energy clusters. We also exert influence on the life of local communities by creating jobs and paying taxes and charges to local government’s budgets. On the other hand, connecting new clients to our CHP plants improves the living conditions of local communities by improving the microclimate.
The support provided by the ENEA Group for the development of renewable energy sources can have a significant impact on the development of the region. The townships where such investments are made receive tax revenue: from property taxes, from legal entities investing in renewable energy sources, and from natural persons, such as farmers who lease their land for wind farms and receive taxable income as a result. What is important, RES is considered to be a non-intrusive industry, so the land allocated for such investments does not lose its utility and tourism value.
Investments of ENEA Group companies in facilities and services representing a positive contribution to the common good in 2022
The Company carried out investments as the Distribution System Operator. Their main goal was to enable the connection of new customers to the grid, improve supply reliability and ensure energy security. The Company focused on connecting new customers and the related construction of new networks, modernization and restoration of existing facilities, and activities related to improving service quality and/or increasing energy demand. In addition, the company plans to carry out the tasks required to adapt and rebuild its grid in connection with the increasing rates of connection of distributed sources (including prosumers sources), the development of e-mobility and energy clusters.
More on ENEA Operator’s investments that are significant from the standpoint of regional and local development is available in the section entitled Key investments of ENEA Operator.
The Company modernized road lighting in the area of its operations. As part of the modernization process, it replaced 6583 lighting fixtures, added 557 poles and 23.8 kms of lighting lines. The modernizations completed in 2022 were carried out in the area of townships of Czempiń, Krzemieniewo, Nowa Wieś Wielka, Puszczykowo, Sadki, Wijewo, Kargowa, Jasień, Sława, Żagań and Sulęcin.
The company replaced district heating networks as part of the project entitled “Reconstruction of the district heating network for efficient distribution of heat in Piła”. As a result, 784 meters of the network were replaced with pre-insulated sections, which will result in much lower heat losses. 8 central heating substations were also replaced with individual ones, which will boost safety and efficiency of distribution.

INTERNAL INDICATOR 29
We cooperate with local vocational and technical schools, including schools preparing for work in the energy industry, in our endorsed schools program, as well as provide students with practical training in cooperation with their universities (dual studies). We offer paid internships and unpaid or paid apprenticeships for students through the “ENEA Onboarding” program. We work with the endorsed schools to provide scholarships for the most talented students, co-finance equipment for classrooms and organize trips and contests. The students are obliged to have mandatory apprenticeships in Group companies. Additionally, as part of the fourth edition of the Enea Academy of Talent program, we are launching an offer for primary (from the fourth grade) and secondary school students, as well as schools and organizations with an initiative to actively support talented young people. The program is aimed at children and institutions from the areas where our Group has the most business – mainly from the north-western voivodships, and from Kozienice, Połaniec, Białystok and Łęczna in the Lublin voivodship. Thanks to an ENEA scholarship, enthusiasts of electronics, biology, mathematics or music, for example, will be able to develop their scientific passions.
